LAUREN CONRAD, STAR OF MTV’S “THE HILLS,” DONATES AUCTION ITEM TO BECKSTRAND CANCER FOUNDATION’S 2008 DIAMOND & PEARL BALL
Celebrity’s Support Helps Local Cancer Patients and Families during Economic Downturn
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (September 23, 2008) – Lauren Conrad, star of MTV’s “The Hills” and fashion designer, has donated a live auction item to Beckstrand Cancer Foundation’s upcoming 5th Annual Diamond & Pearl Ball. Funds raised by Ms. Conrad’s donation of VIP seats to the December 2009 season finale of “The Hills” and the show’s after party, as well as special gift baskets including outfits from her personal clothing line, will be used to improve and enhance the quality of life of O.C. and L.A.-area cancer patients and their families.
“It is the overwhelming generosity of individuals like Ms. Conrad that enables Beckstrand Cancer Foundation to provide much-needed support to local cancer patients, even during times of economic uncertainty when charitable giving can sometimes wane,” said Lil Spitzer, executive director of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation. “This year, we endeavor to continue the Foundation’s mission through the steadfast support of the community, Ms. Conrad and our presenting sponsors, Neiman Marcus Fashion Island and Van Cleef & Arpels at Neiman Marcus.”
The gala, themed “An Evening in Africa,” will be held at the Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. The elegant black-tie event will allow guests to humanely witness the awe-inspiring natural beauty of several live animals, and will feature a cocktail reception, tribute, dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. The fund-raiser will highlight the life and journey of pediatric cancer survivor, Taylor Carol. Gala chairs Jan Salta and Kirsten Prosser extend their thanks to the Foundation’s loyal benefactors, a collective of strong supporters who have made this year’s gala possible.
